A place to gather my thoughts on our plans before I forget them…

Have we thought about our future plans? Of course. 😀 Being DINKs, who else do we plan for?

We look forward to less routines and more endless days of “What do you want to do today?” To catch more sunsets. To plan where we are going and to not worry about day to day things. More itineraries less agendas. More destinations, more time with friends and family, more memories to make.

We look forward to the day when the alarm clock is silent forever—well, at least when we no longer have to catch early flights or chase sunrises in remote places. We dream of fewer routines and endless days of “What do you want to do today?” More sunsets to watch. More time to plan our travels without worrying about daily tasks. More itineraries, fewer strict agendas. More destinations, more moments with friends and family, and more memories to create. As DINKs, this is what truly matters to us. With the resources we have, we hope to reach this goal sooner rather than later and fully embrace the time ahead.

Numerous studies have explored why time seems to accelerate as we age. According to an article in The Independent, “Physical time is not mind time.” The article explains that our ability to process visual information diminishes over time. As the neural networks in our brains expand in size and complexity, electrical signals must travel longer distances, slowing processing speed. As a result, we perceive fewer ‘frames per second’ with age, causing time to feel like it’s passing more quickly. It’s similar to a flipbook: with fewer images per second, the story concludes faster.

“People are often amazed at how much they remember from days that seemed to last forever in their youth,” he said. “It’s not that their experiences were much deeper or more meaningful, it’s just that they were being processed in rapid fire.”

With that in mind, it’s time to add more pages to the flipbook—wiring our neurons with countless memories and experiences that make time feel endless.
